Our Story

La Panaderia

Our father first worked in several jobs when he came to Phoenix before he took over running La Tapatia in 2008. At that time, it was just a bakery. He had been making bread since he was young and now brought that life-long skill to La Tapatia. Over time, he adapted family recipes to the commercial bakery and the business grew. La Tapatia Panaderia now provides breads like our popular Sonoran Dog buns and tortas to restaurants, food trucks, and food carts around Phoenix.

We also bake many traditional items like marranitos, coricos, polveroñes, banderas, conchas and sweet empanadas. Those are also sold commercially and now the public can also purchase them from our restaurant pastry case.

In 2022, we had the chance to expand into the front space of our building. We opened a restaurant and now serve foods that our guests love. This includes some traditional dishes like pupusas and tortas. Of course we have Sonoran Dogs and other hot dogs with our own freshly baked buns. And we have a lot of fun creating sweet and savory chuchulocos snacks. We also have some American favorites like chicken wings, fish & chips and fries.

Our recommendation for guests who like spicy foods: Try the Torta Ahogada. We make our own briote bread and that holds up to the traditional briote salado of beans, carnitas and salsa of this spicy dish.
